IBHI-BiH

The Independent Bureau for Humanitarian Issues IBHI began its activities in Bosnia in 1995. Through series of projects, IBHI-BiH focused its activities towards fulfilling the following aims:

        Research of the problems occuring within the transition of social protection at all levels and creating conditions for its self-sustainability, as well as development of and support to creating a sustainable gender mainstreaming system in BiH, holds a special place in IBHI-BiH activities.

        IBHI-BiH has published more than 30 publications related to human rights, the United Nations (UN) system and the UN organisations, voluntary work, local NGO sector, social protection system and gender issues.

IBHI-BiH cooperates in its activities with UN Agencies such as UNDP, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNOPS, the World Bank, OHCHR, as well as the Governments of Finland, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, United Kingdom; multilateral and bilateral governmental organisations such as DFID, OHR, OSCE, SDC; international NGOs - CARE, ICVA, IRC, OXFAM, Quaker Peace and Social Witness, World Vision, Save the Children UK; consultancy firms such as Birks-Sinclair & Associates Ltd (UK) and KEK-CDC Consultants from Zurich, Switzerland. IBHI-BiH is a partner to national institutions in BiH, and co-operates closely with Central BiH ministries, as well as Entity and Cantonal ministries and local authorities, BiH Universities and other independent research institutions and companies. IBHI-BiH cooperates successfully with a number of national NGOs and community-based organisations.

        The IBHI-BiH main office is in Sarajevo, and IBHI-BiH has its field offices in Banja Luka (main office for the RS) and Travnik. IBHI-BiH Director is dr Žarko Papić, Lejla Somun is his Deputy and Ranka Ninković is assistent.
